Butterflies for Baby . . . Part 2!

Hi again!  Whoo Hoo!  Posts 2 days in a row!!!!  Hopefully back in the groove of this again.  Ha ha!

Anyway, today I wanted to share the butterfly card I created to give to the new parents to be.  Here's the outside:

And, inside:

Here's a close up of the butterfly, created using a piece of So Saffron for the "base" butterfly and two vellum butterflies on top to soften the color:

Ink:  Melon Mambo

Butterflies for Baby . . . Part 1 . . .

Hello, everyone!  Wow, I didn't mean to take a two-week break from blogging, but that's what happened!  We had two camping trips in one week, then last week was back-to-school for my boys, so that has kept me hopping!

Also, just over a week ago now was a baby shower for a good friend, who loves butterflies!  I'd spotted this project on Pinterest (or to see the original post and instructions to create the project on the Heartland Paper blog, please click here).  When I showed it to my friend hosting the shower, we agreed we just had to make it for the mom-to-be!!!

The colors chosen for the shower were Pink Pirouette, So Saffron, and Pistachio Pudding.  So, I used my Big Shot and Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die to cut out a total of 68 butterflies in those colors, and another 68 butterflies from Vellum Card Stock.  I used the two smallest butterflies on the die.  And, after I finished, I used my Bitty Butterfly Punch and punched a bunch of butterflies out of the scraps (those came in handy for decorating the spot where strings attached to the wires in the mobile as well as the tables at the baby shower).

Here's how my butterfly chandelier/mobile turned out:

There is a little non-Stampin' Up! ribbon and retired Stampin' Up! ribbon on the mobile (gasp, I know!), but the main ribbon I used to go around and cover the ring is the Pink Pirouette 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon (it actually took 2 rolls of that to go around the rim!!!)  I tied that in double knots.

What do you think?  Please leave me a comment and let me know -- always great to hear from you!!!

And, stay tuned for part 2 . . . tomorrow if all goes well!  . . .

Thanks for visiting my blog!

Connie's Beautiful Thank You Card with Tape It and Raining Flowers

Wow!  August has been a busy month so far in our household -- we've been working on lots of projects around the house (including a big clean up in my stamping space -- turns out I will have even more than I initially expected for the Crafter's Garage Sale coming up next month!!!), and the boys are in their last summer day camp this week -- an awesome writing camp!  In helping them with their writing, I've been neglecting the blog . . . had a few minutes this afternoon, though, so thought I would pop in and finally share a gorgeous card I received from my oh-so-talented friend Connie Monahan:

I love the layers and color combination on this one -- Pool Party (which Connie knows is one of my absolute favorite colors!), Calypso Coral, So Saffron, and Always Artichoke -- so soft and pretty together!   I also love the wonderful combination of images from the brand new Tape It stamp set, Raining Flowers, and Curly Cute.  A little hard to see in the photo, but the flower images have a soft, subtle sparkle where Connie highlighted the stamped image with a shimmery mica gel pen.

The inside is also perfectly layered and finished:

Hope your August is off to a great start and you are finding time for some creative projects of your own!  Thanks so much for visiting my blog!

Beachy Mojo Card

Haven't posted much as it has been a busy week with my boys!  I did have a chance to stamp, though, and wanted to pop in and share a card I created for this week's Mojo Monday challenge #304. Here's the sketch:

I've had the By the Tide set sitting on my stamping desk, and it is so perfect for summer!  I decided this would be a fun sketch to use with it.  Here's what I created:

And, here's another version, this time with the circle element kept whole:
